One month old Harper

Today Harper is one month old. Although she is still pint-sized she has grown so much! Already she has out grown her first preemie out fit, which swamped her when she was born, & she has lost most of her beautiful dark hair only on the top of her head, making her have a really awesome mullet tail.

By her first doctors appointment, a week and a half after she wad born, she had already grown 2 inches taller. & by the next appointment she had shrunk a half an inch. Obviously this can't be accurate, probably due to how much squirming she did when the nurse measured her, but I think it's hilarious, & something everyone should know anyway.

Within 2 weeks of being born she discovered her hands tasted pretty good, & in the last week decided her thumb tasted even better! Although it's quite cute to see her stick her tiny thumb in her mouth, I am sad to say I am trying to replace the need for her thumb with a Binky. Up until last night she acted like the Binky was gagging her. But last night she did take it, & was comforted for a few minutes with it. I am hoping though that it is not something we have to constantly rely on.

Recently she has also discovered that her tong can go passed the outside of her mouth. So on accasion she'll stick it out for us. On Sunday she gave Granna & me her very first, fully awake, smile!

I'm not good at telling who little people look like. But for now all I see is Jared in her features. Especially the little crusty faces she makes!!

I of course don't have any kids of my own, but from my experience as a nanny and from watching my sister's kids, binky's aren't so bad to use for the first year (although the sucking can really mess up how teeth grow in) and you can just wean them off around one-year old or when you stop breast-feeding (if you're doing that, I guess I don't know).
